My name is Zoli and I am a proud owner of a Saab 900i Classic with a 2.0 16 valve, non turbo, petrol engine and automatic transmission. I acquired this lovely Saab not long ago, with a head gasket issue but only 82k miles on the clock. As I didn’t have a garage that time, just parked in a safe place until last week, when I finally managed to get a place where I can work on the car, so the work just began, the cylinder head is already off from the engine, now I’m cleaning the engine and the engine bay, once is done the rebuild cylinder head will go on the engine with new head gasket, then will prepare the 900 for MOT and hopefully will be back on the road.
Then the plan was to polish the paint as it pretty faded, but then accidentally turned out that the car has a history being named as “Scruffy Saab” even was in a film called Bunny and Clive in a starring role, and also was in a September/October 2016 issue of Saab Driver “ICONIC SAAB INSPIRES ‘SHORT’ BUNNY AND CLIVE” I found out by coincidence… I was about to check the MOT history of the car and by mistake I typed the reg number instead of the DVLA website to google, that’s how I found the previous owner Brian. I contacted him by email and asked him if he has any paperwork for the car as I bought without it. He was replied me back very quick and he was very helpful. Turned out that the car has an unbelievable service history and Brian still had all the paperwork, original book pack, even the sales invoice. I couldn’t be happier…
On the next day I was on my way to Brian to pick up the original documents for my beloved “Scruffy Saab” along with some spare parts that Brian collected while he’s ownership. I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to him! Was really nice to meet and have a chat with such a gentleman like him and a real Saab enthusiast. I hope the Saab will be back on the road by July as I would really like to take him for the SAABFEST, until I will have time to decide to keep it as a “Scruffy Saab” or make it to a “Shiny Saab” again back to its former glory.
